Steel Valley Repro is hosting an all-day training with Abortion Access Front’s Operation Save Abortion.
We know that an all-day commitment is a lot, so you may want to choose one or two panels to attend. Each panel will be followed by an activity to ground what you just learned and discuss how we can put it to work in the Steel Valley.
From Abortion Access Front:
This is a long haul that requires sustained activism-one that actively commits to dismantling systems of oppression, and that recognizes all the intersections of that oppression.
We must reclaim the narrative around abortion, show up with our whole selves to unabashedly support and defend the bodily autonomy of not only women, but of all genders and to do it using a reproductive justice frame work.
We will emphasize what that looks like today, and to ground us, here is the definition of reproductive justice from Sister Song, the Women Of Color Reproductive Justice Collective:
“Reproductive Justice is the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.”
We will learn that when electing politicians, they must support full access to reproductive care, understand that abortion rights are human rights and will commit to not only defending access but expanding it.
You will also have time to converse, strategize and and engage in activities that help you learn how your personal skill set can be applied to protecting and defending our right to abortion.
Today is about building and growing community by centering those most marginalized and following the leadership of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities.

I can’t make it to the trainings on the 17th. Will they be offered again?
We intend to offer the panels separately on other dates (in-person and virtual) so that folks who want to get involved can learn as well as contribute to the direction of Steel Valley Repro.
Can I do this on my own?
Abortion Access Front is offering these trainings through its website. You are welcome to complete the trainings through them, but we strongly advise working with us in a group so that we can have the conversations and strategize together.
How accessible is this event?
The building itself is accessible. Close captioning for the panels will be provided.
Can I bring food and drinks?
Yes, but please no pork or shellfish.
