The Steel Valley has seen its share of fights. The fight for abortion is just the latest.

THANK YOU!

We got over 7000 signatures across the state of Ohio this weekend! The reproductive freedom ballot initiative has officially been filed with the Attorney General who has 10 days to decide whether to approve the language. Once it is approved, we can start collecting the 400k signatures we need to get the initiative on the ballot for this November. Stay tuned!

The overturning of Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood has shocked many of us to our cores. There has been a concerted effort for years to overturn those cases, but seeing the opinion in black and white – as well as the paltry justifications for it – was a punch to the gut.

So many of us have marched and rallied. We have voted. We have written letters and made phone calls.

But we cannot sit by and let this stand.

THE TIME TO FIGHT FOR REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM IS NOW.

Abortion is healthcare. Period. It is a private decision between a person and their physician.

But this does not just impact abortion and reproductive freedom.

If you read the decision, there is a statement that the Fourteenth Amendment — the one that is the foundation for Civil Rights since the 1950s — only covers rights that are “deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition.” That means LGBTQ rights and perhaps other decisions that rest on the right to privacy protected by Roe like contraception and interracial marriage could be on the chopping block, too.

We rallied on May 14.
We rapidly responded on June 24.

We mobilized on October 8 and 9.

We’ve collected signatures for language to get abortion on the ballot (first phase!).

Now it is time to get to work. Help us co-create the future of the Steel Valley Reproductive Freedom Coalition — sign up to stay involved.
